The aim of this review was to summarize modern approaches, new perspectives, and future directions for the treatment of HF. Their promising and encouraging results reported to date compel the extension of heart failure treatment beyond the classical view. Since many of these modern approaches interfere with various well-known pathological mechanisms in HF, they have a real ability to complement and or increase the efficiency of existing medications and thus improve the prognosis and survival rate of HF patients. Furthermore, recent technological advances made possible the development of various interventional techniques and device-based approaches for the treatment of HF. Thus, a myriad of experimental and clinical studies focusing on the discovery of new and provocative underlying mechanisms of HF physiopathology pave the way for the development of novel HF therapeutic approaches. Despite the availability of a plethora of pharmaceutical approaches, proper management of HF is still challenging.

Even though real progress was made in the past decades in the discovery of novel pharmacological treatments for HF, the prevention of premature deaths has only been marginally alleviated. Heart failure (HF) is a progressively deteriorating medical condition that significantly reduces both the patients’ life expectancy and quality of life. The results indicated that NIR spectroscopy could be used to identify individual goat muscles. The classification of individual muscle samples was achieved by linear discriminant analysis (LDA) with acceptable accuracies (68–94%) using the second-derivative NIR spectra. Differences in the NIR spectra of the muscles were observed at wavelengths of around 976 nm, 1180 nm, and 1430 nm, associated with water and fat content (e.g., intramuscular fat).

Thus, the longissimus thoracis et lumborum, biceps femoris, semimembranosus, semitendinosus, supraspinatus, and infraspinatus muscles were removed and scanned (900–1600 nm) using a portable NIR instrument. Fresh goat carcasses (n = 35 19 to 21.7 Kg LW) from different animals (age, breeds, sex) were used and separated into different commercial cuts. This study evaluated the use of a portable near-infrared (NIR) instrument, combined with chemometrics, to identify and classify individual-intact fresh goat muscle samples.

These findings suggest that HBSI is an easy approach to generate a reliable in vivo model of TBI to capture hemorrhage, neuroinflammation, reactive gliosis, and neural death, as well as cognitive deficits observed in human patients.Īdulterated, poor-quality, and unsafe foods, including meat, are still major issues for both the food industry and consumers, which have driven efforts to find alternative technologies to detect these challenges.

Mice with a hippocampal blade stab injury (HBSI) displayed the activation of microglia and astrocytes, inflammation, neuronal apoptosis, and deficits in spatial learning and memory. The immunofluorescence staining of NeuN, GFAP, IBA1, and TUNEL was conducted to analyze the changes in neurons, astrocytes, and microglia, as well as cell death. Open-field, Morris water maze and Barnes maze tests were used to evaluate the animal behaviors. In the present study, we investigated whether applying a blade penetrating stab wound to the hippocampus would create an animal model of cognitive deficits. Although various animal TBI models have been generated, they usually have weaknesses in standardization, survivability and/or reproducibility. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is closely associated with the later development of neurodegenerative and psychiatric diseases which are still incurable.
